4th Test England V Australia - Old Trafford

Got waylaid by a service level agreement, anyone would think they paid me! :ROFLMAO:

Labuschagne gone .... bowled, Overton .... now get shot of Sandpaper Smith

Pretty rubbish day really. Constant rain interruptions (and wind/bail problems as well) and a century stand between Smith (who we just can't get out) and Labuschagne (who we seem to have almost as much trouble with).

Are we reaping the results of a World Cup summer? I’m not sure of the usual dates for summer tests but there’s two tests still to play and we’re heading in to the autumn with all the weather that the season can throw at us. Do we usually go into September with a couple of test matches still to play? - genuine question. If we fail to complete these last two tests then the Aussies retain the ashes so fingers crossed for some late sunshine. Having said that, if we bowl like we did today in, admittedly, difficult conditions then we won’t get much joy anyway. Too much hosing the ball around trying to force wickets rather staying to disciplined bowling around off stump. A real missed opportunity to really test Smith while he was feeling his way back in. How many easy boundaries was he given flicking off his pads?

In terms of the Ashes at least, only 2005 finished in September (four days before this year's is due to end). All the rest have been done and dusted by the end of August.

Is Michael Vaughan an ex-England or Australia player? Every chance to put the boot in he takes. He loves it when England don’t play well and he can point out what they’ve done wrong. Obviously he was perfect as a captain ?

He was a pretty good captain to be fair

Shift Sandpaper Smith early on, and then slice through the rest of their batting order must be the plan?
if our bowling attack concentrates on whoever is at the other end to Smith, and limit him as much as possible,
maybe that'll get em out quickish? heres hoping Archer is on target today

C'mon England

back on again ... Leach and Overton bowling.... Come on England lets have a wicket or two before lunch

Wade gone for 16... bowled Leach, caught Root :sneaky:
