Just watched the highlights
Cleared all 3 to some extent, but the protection of the box is none existing from there.

We’ve conceded 3 goals a game since Findlay back in caused two goals today absolute liability
Anderson Long Moore brown Fleming has to be the back 5

We played okay today compared to recent weeks but I believe this is the third game on the trot where we've conceded 3 against a fairly average Derby side. Our defence is just not good enough no matter what combination we use but we have known this all year and have to live with it for the remainder. Referee was abysmal and bought everything Derby did and failed to book at least 3 of their players for cynical challenges. Never had control and Derby's experienced players capitalised on his failings.

Smyth looks promising and there was a couple of other positive displays but we look very frail at the back especially when we invite teams forward. 6pts from the next two are required.
Whilst I accept totally our defence is not good enough, it is not helped by the failure of players to track back.
The next ten games I hope we setup to defend properly as a team. Teams defend not just defenders, currently we don't. We have too many lazy players who are only interested in going forward. Defending appears to be a dirty word in many of this squad.

Are there any stattos out there who know when we last had a run of results worse than this?

Even if we stay up I'm going to find it REALLY hard to warm to the board after they failed to sack Karl months after he should have gone.

If we lose the next couple it's all going to feel rather hopeless. Do these players have the ability and desire to get us out of this? We can only pray.

Desperately short of a good defensive midfielder in my opinion, someone a bit brutal. Robinsons biggest f**k up has been not bringing one in, probably to boring for him.
Which we could all see when Gorrin did his ACL in November last season, well, except for KR.

Spot on, like Browne not tracking back for their third.

Yep, 1988 to 1989, our third but last season in the top flight. We sold Ray Houghton to Liverpool in the November and we didn't win a game in the League for the rest of the season. In short, we've got some way to go to match that.

Body language atrocious after each of their goals.

We have decent quality in the squad but I saw only 3 fighters on the pitch today. Long, Brown and Brannagan. That’s got to be a problem, whoever sits in the dug out. We are not built for a relegation fight.

We were out muscled in midfield too, like we are every week, allthough Smyth actually showed some promise. I’d start him next week.

Derby bog average, they had what 4 shots and scored 3. It’s such a poor league this season, which makes our shocking run even more galling. All Eastwood seems to do is pick the ball out of the net. He needs a rest, he simply doesn’t create any sense of confidence.

Good luck Liam Manning , you’re going to need it.

Isn't that exactly what quality is though?

Isn't that exactly what we were doing when we were getting 6 at Lincoln and such?

You need a certain sort of player in a relegation battle , don’t think we have enough of them. We melt when the pressure is on.

Yeah, to use the vernacular this side does seem lacking in B*****s.

A bit of a theme under KR.

I would rather watch a 3-2 defeat than a dull drab 1-0.

Talent? Yep.

Cohesive unit? Glimpses.

Spirit and fight? Sorely lacking.

Extended match ’highlights’ :

Shambolic defending for their three goals. First goal I think Henry gives away a soft for-kick , Long heads it into a dangerous area, they win the second
ball and recycle it out wide. Long is miles away from his man and does not do enough to block the low ball in. Browne fails to track Sibley who easily gets in front of Moore.

The second is slapstick after Brown gives away a needless free-kick and Henry misses a tackle as Sibley bamboozles him and shoots high past Eastwood with his weaker right foot.

The third goal - wow.

Terrible pass to Findlay , Poor clearance, we turn it over for fun and the defence is too deep , no pressure on the cross from the right where Long and Moore allow Collins a free header in the box. It’s a giveaway.

It was CB who gave it away.

We drew regularly enough in that run though that we never got just 1 point from a sequence of 10 games. I'm not sure we've ever done that before, since we entered the league anyway.

3rd was Long OG

I’d say Derby’s first and third goals are caused by Bate. For their first goal he over commits leaving his man free of space in the build up, and with their third he fully dallies on the ball and then gives a very poor ball to Findlay. Findlay could have done better with the clearance, but he was on the by-line so couldn’t get much back lift (having said that, he could have played a simple ball out to Brown, but we know Findlay’s not comfortable on the ball when being shut down), but for me Bate’s initial errors led to these goals.

Bate has been a shadow of himself in recent games actually. Probably could do with a rest even if not injured. Decent player, but he's young, and maybe has just had too many games in a row.

Encouraging yesterday I thought. Manning will have seen frailties for sure but I thought there were signs we can start to pick up a bit. Play like that in the next two and we will come away with at least 4 points.

On a separate note, I was a bit surprised there was no formal introduction of him to the crowd. To be fair, it could have been on his say so in respect to everyone staying focussed on the game. It reminded me of a time I found myself in one of the lounges post match a day or so after Waddock had been appointed and Lenagan was doing a speech and went to hand the mic to Waddock to say some words and he went bright red, looked as shy as they come and declined to speak ! Had my reservations about him from that moment onwards to be honest.
