Nothing has changed and I don't think it can. You can’t polish a turd!! We played for a 1-0 the whole of the second half and with the way we consistently concede it was the wrong thing to do. I don't think Manning had us managing the game that well.
Long should have done much better with Hunter for the goal. Gave him far too much room and invited him to shoot and he took it.
Poor result in the end.

I was disappointed that the Cheltenham game was postponed at the time, but now I think it might be beneficial. Some extra time for Manning to give our side some new ideas.

Almost as though the job description was ‘we quite like what Karl was doing so if you could just keep doing that, that would be great’… Not nearly enough was achieved this week. Exactly why a change was needed sooner. Leaving it to the last 10 games was suicide.

I can't work out how we left their winger with so much space on the goal. It's the 86th minute, we're desperately holding on for a point - and Sam Long is playing miles off him, and Marcus Browne is absolutely nowhere to be seen. Yes, it came from our throw-in, but it's not as if they moved it especially quickly.....it was as plodding as most of their play was. Good run and finish from the lad, but it was criminal to give him that amount of space at that point in the game.

In general, I think Morecambe are doomed. They're rubbish, they've played more games than anyone else and their run-in is arguably even tougher than ours. FGR and Cambridge probably as well, as neither of them can't beat anyone either. So it looks like one from us, Accrington, MKD. Everything may end up riding on May 7th.

GOD and Smyth deserve a ton of credit for battling like hell today, and they both had some great moments. But they're both raw AF, and given how much money we've spent, it's absurd that they're being expected to be our key central attacking threats in the middle of a League One relegation battle.

polishing a turd is exactly the right analogy - even Cam who we all know is a class act has been poor lately

Poor Smyth was absolutely knackered and running like a 60 year old at the end. Tactically we needed fresh legs so can’t understand why Bate wasn’t thrown on earlier. Seemed a no brainier so no idea why Manning didn’t do it.

Have a look at midfield cover maybe?
Because we have none
Blame defense for everything
We can’t create and we definitely can’t score
So blame defense. Get a life
It’s a team sport. Attackers defend. Defenders attack.

Sadly, 12 clean sheets in 83 games (I think it is) tells its own pathetic story. But when you compound that with a complete inability to create chances, something is fundamentally wrong. And when you watch our team, a massive part of the problem is the limitations of our full backs which is why I would run a mile from playing a back 4. Said it all bloody season. We may not be play off worthy in that system with the same players but we damn sure wouldn’t be in a relegation battle. Go through the squad man for man and ask where they’d be best playing. You’ll get to a 352 of sorts.

Oh and if you could tell Eastwood where his near post is that might be handy in the next 9 games.

I don't understand why we can't keep a clean sheet. I was at Hillsborough in December, and we matched the now runaway leaders and should have won it, and we kept a clean sheet - why can't we do so any more?

We were not exactly keeping a lot of clean sheets before, that is our only clean sheet in the last 24 away games, it was just freak result and we couldn’t even capitalise on that rare occurrence by scoring once to take 3 points.

The problem is that’s the last clean sheet we kept, half way through December, we have only kept 4 clean sheets in the last 50 league games, the defence is s**t, you can dress it up how you want but we have players who are not league one standard playing back there.

Manning said in an interview 'round pegs in round holes'..... so why play O'Donkor as target man on his own up front? - most of Donks 8 goals in 4 games for the academy were when playing 2 up front

Smyth, who had a decent game, could've gone off earlier..... as should Browne, who faded in the 2nd half

Goodrham should've come on instead of Murphy

I think Anderson & Bate for Smyth & Browne on 80 minutes, and we win that game 1-0 (or maybe even nick a second on the break).
Smyth & Browne had nothing left in the tank by that point, and the fact that neither of them got back to give Long support for the goal was crucial to us conceding.

Not the best start by Manning, but he's only had a week. Now he's got two weeks to get us ready for the run-in.

He’s going to be expensive come the end of the season.

And we could be in the relegation zone by the time we play Cheltenham

Let’s be honest he isn’t even ready to be playing at this level yet, if he ever is, his physical strength makes a difference at youth team level but that’s taken away from him in the men’s game.

Absolutely ridiculous that he is even playing for us at this time, would struggle to get into most national league teams.

Expect everyone will like hearing complete sentences from LM post match

Sadly I don’t think this Squad will have what is needed in a relegation battle.
I would love to be wrong though
